About Dakshina Kannada Gowda Welfare Association (DKGWA), Bangalore

Dakshina Kannada Gowda Welfare Association (DKGWA) is a community-driven organization dedicated to uniting and uplifting the Gowda community members originating from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, including Udupi. The Gowda community in this region has a unique social and cultural identity, distinct from Gowdas of other parts of Karnataka, enriched by its traditions and heritage.

As community members moved to Bengaluru for employment, business, and education, the need for a platform to connect and support them became evident. To fulfill this need, Dakshina Kannada Gowda Welfare Association was established in July 2003, inspired by the visionary leadership of Dr. P. Muddappa Gowda and Sri K.R. Chamaiah (Retired Law Secretary, Government of Karnataka). The idea was born during a gathering at the residence of Prof. K. M. Shivaram, where several like-minded individuals discussed the formation of an association dedicated to the welfare of the community.

With overwhelming support from the attendees, the dream of a dedicated welfare association became a reality. The Memorandum of Association was registered on July 11, 2003, under Registration No. 334/2003-2004, and the registered office was established at No. 5, 1st Main, 1st Cross, Palace Cross Road, Bengaluru – 560020.
