Dakshina Kannada Gowda Welfare Association (DKGWA), Bangalore

The Dakshina Kannada Gowda Welfare Association (R), Bangalore was established in July 2003 with the vision of uniting and supporting members of the Dakshina Kannada Gowda community residing in Bangalore. The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. P. Muddappa Gowda and Sri K. R. Chamaiah (Retired Law Secretary, Government of Karnataka), who, along with a group of like-minded individuals, gathered at the residence of Prof. K. M. Shivaram to discuss the formation of an association dedicated to the welfare of the community.

Objectives of the Association

  • To arrange cultural programmes, games, sports activities, recreation and other development activities.

  • To conduct training progammes in music, dance, drama, yoga, tailoring and other human resource development activities.

  • To organize teaching languages, computer training, cookery and bakery classes.

  • To organize and sponsor inter-institutional competitions in sports, games and other intellectual activities.

  • To promote construction of community hall, prayer hall and to conduct cultural functions.

  • To organize and run recreation club with facilities for outdoor and indoor games and facilities

  • To raise funds and operate accounts for providing scholarships and charity to the deserving people irrespective of caste, creed and community.

  • To build/ purchase and own immovable and movable properties as and when such situations arise. The properties of the Association shall be in the name of the Association.
